THE SATURDAY SCHOOL SEMINAR SERIES
Men as Peacemakers offers a series of workshops and seminars throughout the school year specifically designed to assist teachers in creating learning environments that are disciplined, nurturing and relevant to the lives of students. CEU’s will be available. Collegiate graduate credit from UMD may be available as well.

Series I: Positive Behavior Management in a Restorative School Culture

The following three workshops may be taken separately, or as a package. Series I will only be offered in the Fall. Graduate credit (.5 per workshop) may be available through the University of Minnesota, Duluth.*

1. The Core of Positive Behavior Management: Becoming the change we want to see
Mahatma Gandhi said that we must become the change we want to see in the world. This is no less true in the world of the classroom. This one-day seminar workshop focuses on the simplicity of positive behavior management through bringing awareness to the values we wish our students to emulate. Discussion and role-play will aid participants in learning how better to implement these values in their classrooms and in relationships with their students.

2. Creating Restorative Culture and Schools that Learn
Teachers and school administrators spend a day exploring the evidence of how entire school communities—students, staff and parents—benefit when schools frame their policies and practice in a restorative paradigm. Discussion will center on the real experiences of the participants and the changes they wish to initiate.

3. Circles and Other Classroom Measures for Positive Behavior Management

Hands on, experiential introductions and training in a variety of restorative measures to use in the classroom and as alternative methods of executing school disciplinary policies.
