Books are the quietest and most constant of friends: they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.

-Charles W. Eliot

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.

The Reading Partner Project

The Reading Partner Program was established in 2001 with the intent of connecting students with an adult who will help them read. This program builds on the idea that children who have caring adults in their lives, helping them learn, will be more successful scholastically. Reading Partners are paired with a student with whom they meet once a week to read. The objective is to build relationships and increase reading skills.

Reading Partners commit to:

  • One adult - one student
  • Visit the student once a week for 30 minutes
  • A limited one year commitment
  • Undergo reference and criminal background check
